HK ...3

DAY 3
Went to Macau by turbojet - terminal at Sheung Wan mtr station. Been inside Sands Casino (free shuttle bus) from ferry terminal brought us straight to the casino floor. Took lunch at the Buffet 88 which copied the long buffet of Las Vegas. Cost about S$35. Food is good and plentiful ....unable to sample everything - missed the sushi .... money well spent. Did not gamble much, just played a little of jackpot - lost! Watch the floor shows - some mild dancing and singing.
Bought quite a bit of local product from Macau.
On way back - typhoon warning No. 1 - glad nothing happens - just a warning.
Back at hotel - found a nice porridge specialist shop round the corner - had it twice in a row... cheap and good.

DAY 4
We split into 2 groups - Candy and Ah Mui went to Disneyland. The rest rather spent the whole day shopping - first went to Paradise Mall - at Heng Fa Chuen station. Then to Sham Shui Po, Cheung Sha Wan, Ladies street and Langham Place at Mongkok Station - found the popular chi ji restaurant there which offered special discount for tea - had a delicious bowl of beef noodles.
Today bought lots of clothes and knick knacks.....enjoyed but after looking at the pictures of those girls at disneyland, wish we had gone too .... nevermind, intend to bring my grandchildren the next time round.

DAY 5
Today is the last day of our trip.... so sad.... not enough, wish it was longer. Morning went to
Sha Tin (took the railway from Kowloon Tong) - had direction from the helpful hotel staff.
Went to look for this hotel which is famous for its roasted pigeon. We were there early so enquired the price and was told HK 53 each but after an hour later when we went back the price shot up to HK 58 each(which is S$11.50) .... what sort of business strategy is that???? Will never ever go back there again and will not recommend anyone ..... it's not that fantastic. So silly - don't know why buy 3 birds? Must have been charmed !!!
What an end to an otherwise wonderful trip!

HK ...2

DAY 2
Today went to Lantau Island at Tung Chung Station - cable car supposed to be ready but not, what a disappointment! Took the bus up (almost an hour journey). The statue of Buddha was HUGE - took 256 steps to reach it. We had a wonderful vegetarian lunch there - cost S$20 each,
inclusive of admission ticket. It was much better than our restaurant veg lunch back home.... shark fin's soup, mushroom, yam, tauhu, mix veg, can't remember wat else..... just love it.
In the late afternoon went to Sham Shui Po mtr station - it's where all the wholesalers are and they do sell cheap clothings which were samples - bought a number of T-shirts.
Evening went to shopping centres at Sheung Wan station ... and then to Causeway Bay - HK Times Square is there.

Group photo at Lantau and guess what??? we're in the ladies there!

My Hong Kong trip

DAY 1
Got up at 2.30am - got to be at airport by 4.30am (flight at 6.30am) - budget airline, that's why the ungodly hour. The flight is rather uncomfortable 'cos the seating is quite narrow and we're damn tired! Reached HK safely - six of us - 3 sisters plus elder sis' friends - Winnie, Candy and Ah Mui. Took bus A21 from airport to our Hotel Concourse - right at the doorsteps (so clever - did homework first..) - cost about S$6 only!
After checking in - alrdy past 1pm - very very hungry - only had coffee the whole morning - went to look for food and found the Sun Wah restaurant, which was recommended by someone from the internet - the noodles were ok, not that fantastic as claimed, I tried the salted fish fried rice - it's rather nice.
After lunch, hardly rest, went to APM Shopping Centre (it's only a year old) - at Kwun Tong mtr station, didn't buy much - things are not cheap at all - branded and very little discount. There's a Jusco supermart there ...
In the evening after APM, we went straight to Avenue of Stars - at Tsim Sha Tsui mtr station - to see the splendour of lights. Had dinner at a Japanese restaurant there, ha!
The girls were really energetic, didn't go back to hotel, continued ..... to Ladies street. Too bad the stalls were all closing as that day was the 14th of the Ghost Month which is quite scary - all the stalls were trying and rushing to close before 12 mn... think it's quite a significant day for them.
By the time we reached the hotel, it was past 12mn and I'm dead tired, slept like a baby...
Prince Edward is the station near our hotel. The other pic is the APM shopping centre.

BACK FROM HONGKONG

Just returned from H.K. a couple of days ago. It was my 3rd trip there, and an enjoyable one.
The last 2 trips was with tour company but this time it was all on our own - so much more fun. First time I booked the airticket on-line and budget airline at that! It's so easy and hassle free --- no need to go out physically to book ---- just a few smses and a few click of the mouse --
what technology had done!!! Wish I was born this generation.....
Just yesterday learnt from my daughter how to present my photos through powerpoint animation ...soooo interesting... will give my two other sis a copy each of their holiday memories (too bad I took a lousy camera - so didn't have much photos -- waiting for her friends')
We stayed in a 3-star hotel which is rather nice compared to the previous one we had 2 years ago. The room is slightly bigger and the bathroom is much bigger - with bathtub! Took a picture from the hotel room (but didn't take the internal view ...)

Emerald's 21st

Just celebrated Emerald's 21st last week - had a family gathering at pasir ris resort, quite a big gathering even though my 3 brothers were working overseas. The kids stayed over and as usual the adults went to sis place at simei to play mahjong. The next morning, found that all the leftover in the fridge was spoilt 'cos the lower portion of the fridge is defective! I was quite upset and casually commented that we need a refund. Being the typical Singaporean, my husband, picked up the phone and COMPLAINED! Someone was sent to assess the damage and we had a new fridge replaced and then he was asked to list the items that were spoilt. He was so happy and start listing ..... got to stop him! Management did a wonderful recovery job -- we had curry chicken, nasi bryani, fried tauhu, chap chye, hokkien mee, fried chicken wings enough for 10 people plus six cans of coke.... my workplace should have similar recovery process - at the receiving end as a cstomer we were satisfied and go away happy!!
